Album Review: Modestep – Evolution Theory (Deluxe Edition) [#ThrowbackThrusday]

Type: Album
#CH502 Rating: 9 out of 10

In an era where electronic musicians focus on releasing EPs and Singles, we rarely get the opportunity to appreciate longer-type artistic work. Which is why this album is a true gem from 2013 in electronic music. To think that Modestep was formed in 2010 is mind-blowing. Their stage and music synchronism would have you to believe that they have been together for decades.
This musical project really entrenched the concept of “patience being a virtue” as the recording of this album spanned over 2 years (2011 - 2012). As a result, we have 1 hour and 42 minutes of mutated Electronic Rock and Dubstep madness to enjoy until the end of time!
Modestep introduced the album to us in a brutally slow fashion all the way back in 2011 with “Feel Good” as the first single released on UKF’s YouTube channel (which easily soared to over 15 Million views). This was then followed by their second single “Sunlight” 5 months later.
After the release of their 4th single, “Show Me a Sign” in mid-2012, they vanished. But it wasn’t too long when they returned with a 2013 release date as well as announced the 9 tracks that would come with Deluxe Edition of the album, which featured remixes from Zomboy, Teddy Killerz, xKore and more!
This album is definitely worth going back in time for. It is a creative depiction of many values, such as patience, teamwork & fun which we (the Channel 502 team) do our best to embody.
