Biography: Armin van Buuren


Armin Van Buuren was born in Leiden, Netherlands on The 25th of December 1976. He started working as a DJ in a local night club called “Next” where he began to create a small following.

When he finished high school in 1995. He then pause his studied to pursue his dream (the birth of Armada) but then came back to complete his law degree in 2004!

He is a Music Producer, DJ, Radio Presenter, Pianist, Remixer, Song-writer and co-founder of the biggest electronic music group in the world – Armada Records.

The electronic music virtuoso dominates are large spectrum of genres namely, Progressive Trance, Uplifting Trance, Chill-out, Progressive House and many more.

Armin van Buuren is the most prestigious DJ in the world, earning many stripes along his lengthy career. Most notable is being voted the number 1 DJ in the world on DJ Mag’s Top 100, 4 times - setting a world record. Second being, in 2011, Van Buuren was appointed Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau for his services to music.

All of this is evidence of Armin’s prolific musical and professional output.

This year (2014), his album hit “This Is What It Feels Like” received a Grammy Award nomination for the Best Dance Recording. This made him the fourth Trance Artist to ever receive a Grammy Nomination alongside Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and BT. In the United States, he holds the record for the most entries on The Billboard Dance/Electronic album Charts!

Much of his success is due to his religiously followed radio show and stable “A State of Trance” (ASOT). With over 2 million listeners tuning in from all over the world.


Armin is a pioneer of the modern electronic music scene and we at Channel 502 respect him for all he has done in the name of good music.
